Pilton Cider's Road Trip is a still, traditional style off-dry cider, caramel on the nose, with a smooth white wine mouthfeel, delicate tannins, and a long after-taste. It features Tremlett's Bitter & Brown's Apple, grown in the south Somerset parish of Haselbury Plucknett, and has been fermented with Metschnikowia pulcherrima yeast, partly in burgundy and in rum barrels.
Presented in a wine bottle with cork and white wax (corkscrew required), the label was drawn in 1916 by Martin's great-grandfather, as a fantasy journey, looking forward to a brave new world after the first world war.
Pilton is a Somerset cidermaker renowned for their keeved ciders. They source their apples predominantly from local orchards in the southwest, and allow a generous time for their juice to ferment and mature before blending and bottling. They have won a number of awards, including several 3* Great Taste awards.
